Re: Fast action 8wt

Update, I ended up with a RIO 24' 300 gr sink tip for the above mentioned 8wt. It took some adjustments on my timing but this thing is a rocket launcher. When my timing is on it throws the tightest...

Re: Sinking line extensions?

I have used them in the past. They do the job but you give up a lot in feel and control Vs a traditional sink tip. I thought they fished ok till I purchased a true sink tip in 15' and 24' and now I...

Re: R.L. Winston

x2 The clearwater and passport are both entry level rods and will both lack the qualities that make their brands great. I second what sweetandsalt said buy a used quality rod off of e-bay or your...

Re: Buy from Orvis

The only thing Orvis I'll ever buy is the Super Strong Mono Tippet and I do like their Hydros Fly lines. As far as the other stuff they can sell it to someone else at their "Life Style" stores

Re: Which TN tailwater?

Yes the SoHo is the best fishery but also has the most attention especially on weekends. My favorite is the Clinch, I enjoy the streamer fishing when they are generating, but my favorite is when you...

Re: Any 10wt suggestions for a poor caster?

Fast actions can be tough, I had a similar problem with a TFO TiCrX which is very fast action. I don't mean for this to sound like I'm putting you down but Why not take some casting lessons and fix...

Re: What's the worst fly rod you've ever had?

I have a TFO TiCrX also in 8wt and it is very fast action but it was advertised as that so I knew what I was buying. I use it for throwing really big streamers to trout, I hope to take it to the...

Re: Colorado XT Pontoon

I had a Colorado Xt Pontoon, It is a decent bottom end/ middle of the road pontoon. One thing I've discovered I'll never own another that doesn't have some type of floor under my seat/feet. Not for...

Re: Help matching line to rod

I'm not familar with the Reddinton RS4, but as a guide to make a guess, I would look at 2 things. The action of the rod and your ability to cast. I have a TFO TiCr 9' 8wt which is very fast action...

Re: What's the worst fly rod you've ever had?

The worst rod(s) I've ever had excluding cheap rods are almost every St Croix rod I've ever had. I'm a medium action guy and the St Croixs are rated at least one sometimes more categories slower than...

BWO Wd40 techniques

Just curious about how others fish the WD40? Do you fish it as a dropper under a dry or at the end of a double nymph rig, or use it more in the surface film, or as I do I've added legs using...

Re: Okuma Magnitude

The Integrity is a heck of a good reel for the money. It's like a timex watch "takes a beating and keeps on ticking", the drag is surprisenly good for an inexpensive reel. The Magnatude is too...
