The BVK 8 weight is a very easy casting rod...you'll love it.
But.....do not high stick it when landing fish. The light weight seemed to be accomplished by reducing wall thickness.......if not...

Rio outbound short wf8f and the rio striper 26 foot head.....250 grain...are perfect for this rod.

You shouldn't need a 9 or 10 weight for that size striper...your eight weight should be fine.

I use an 8 weight 9 foot in the rivers and an 8 weight switch 11 foot in the surf....my suggestion....get the rod that works best for salmon on the Margaree or Badeck and use it!! I love those rivers.

I waded out to the bar past the first trough....then waded out to about waist deep. When. I stood on the ladder my feet were about even with the water level....as long as the waves didn't break...

Used to fish the gulf around Seagrove with the fly rod. Had some great redfish action.....all big reds. Would show up when the weather turned in early spring. The gulf in that area has a trough right...

The BVK weighs 3.2 and the Mangrove 4.1. Notice also the graph TFO puts next to each rod. The Mangrove graph indicates it is stronger in the lifting column.
Now..haven't casted the mangrove..but...

I'm with silver creek on this one. If your having trouble getting strikes start be eliminating the variables. The first place I start is tippet. I'm always using flouro...so that solves that option....

Never heard of the mystic reaper so looked them up. A couple thing stood out under the warrantee. First it's 50 bucks...TFO is 25.....second, says it...
