Re: what scissors do you like?

I use Dr Slicks and am very happy with them. Have 3 pair: all purpose, arrow, and hair. Also use a regular old pair of scissors to clip wire etc.

My advice: buy good scissors for cutting...

Re: Veevus?

I'm a fan of Veevus thread. Use the 12/0 or 14/0 a lot for trout flies. Not pitching all my other thread since it works well also, but I'm happy with the Veevus. For break strength, you may have...

Re: suggestions on blanks of MI. kings

Didn't use it for salmon but built a 9' 10wt TFO Mangrove (http://www.theflyfishingforum.com/forums/fly-rod-building/352863-new-10wt-build.html)recently and loved it for Musky. The rod cast a 350...

Re: Best place Online for hooks?

+1 for Allen and also a Saber hook fan - good hooks for the price for sure. For small flies I buy Orvis big eye hooks. Threading tippet through 18 and smaller is just easier with the big eyes. ...

Re: How to evaluate the risk of Smaller-sized Companies?

+1 for the above. Forums like this are invaluable for vetting smaller companies. Lots of people use Allen products and can share their first hand experience. Additionally the Allen folks are...

Re: Mountain Lake Trout Fishing - Colorado

There's a lake pretty close to Denver that has Tiger Trout. Not a huge secret but don't want to post it on the forum so feel free to PM me if you're interested. Not too big but they are beautiful...

Re: 2014 Stonefly Swap?

I'll add that I've been looking through the flies and there are some great patterns in there. Can't wait to get them wet and see what the trout think :)

Re: Do not get Grounded by new airline carry on size changes.

I got a 4" rod tube that will fit multiple 4 piece 9' rods. Even when they were making people check carry on bags I've not had an issue with it. Fits in an overhead bin with carry-on bags.

Re: Dream Location?

I spent my first 30+ years split between Chicago suburbs and Michigan. Between those two Michigan wins hands down. I spent most of my summers growing up at a camp in Northern Wisconsin, hike and...

Re: Places that are world known... but lame?

No! Don't argue, just agree, Colorado is tapped out! If people are heading West to fish they should go to Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. There's no good fishing "in the entire State of Colorado" and...

Re: Places that are world known... but lame?

Agree that I rarely "kill it" on these streams, for me that makes them fun and more challenging. A handful of nice fish can easily match dozens of fish in other locations. Days there are crowds can...
