Re: Do stockies holdover?

The short answer... no

Re: The short era of fiberglass rods...

I remember reading once that if fiberglass had ever had the chance to develop, we would not be using graphite fly rods today

I got my first graphite fly rod for the salt in '88, but for trout it...

Re: Fiberglass thoughts?

I have in the neighborhood of 20 "vintage" glass rods
Not all of them are worth going out of your way for, but you're not going to go wrong with an old Phillipson, Fenwick, Siliflex, Fisher, or St...

That far up the Hendricksons will still be around, caddis season will just be starting and you'll likely see some BWOs
For me, I'll be sticking with mostly streamers and wet flies
The last 2 years,...

Re: Black flies

The blackflies don't bother me all that much and I like to think that's because I don't fail around trying to swat at them. .. Or.... maybe I just smell bad

Re: porgy fly fishing.

Here in southern New England, depending on who you're talking to, we have pogy and porgies
A pogy is a menhaden, or what I might call a bunker
A porgy is a scup. Supposedly there's more and bigger...

Re: So you caught a sucker/fallfish what do you do?

We would do that when I was a kid
During the spring run-off, the meadows along the Connecticut River would flood over.
When the water receded, huge carp would find themselves trapped in depressions...

I know that when I can smell lilacs in my yard, the cows have come home.
That's been nearly a week now.
