Re: $2.00 Seine Net

I hear Everclear is good, but I can't afford to put bugs in it......
My program doesn't involve permanent preservation. just getting people past info overload.
If I need another bug next year I'll...

Re: "I Give Up...(almost)" Update

Re: "I Give Up...(almost)" Update

Re: "The Movie" -- back on Netflix

A better read.....
The issue isn't how they handled faking the fishing......maybe none were harmed, but the big brown didn't look comfortable held through the gills.
It's how millions of folks...

Re: Is Spey/Switch for me?

For a season, I was hooked up with Buela's rods and drove them next to Sage....
Really liked the platinum.....a little stiffer than my switch.
I pity the fish.......

Re: Is Spey/Switch for me?

Personally, I like to stay in the...

Re: Is Spey/Switch for me?

Fred, I prefer to use the term "diminutive spey".....:shades:
The Truckee river isn't really big enough for a full spey (60-80ft across), but has some VLF's that are more fun to handle on a switch...

Re: $2.00 Seine Net

I've said many times......I'll spend serious money on a rod.
But, the most important tool I own, is two dollars of homemade bug net. The sticks I use for making my net are eighteen years old.......

Re: "I Give Up...(almost)" Update

Chad, if you want to get your cast on, give me a call.
You are close enough to me, not to try and learn on-line.
Learning this sport the hard way, is not recommended. (Although it can be done.)...

Re: Truckee river

I never fish across the line into NV.
But up here, it's still fish-able......or I wouldn't post.
Take your sinking line to the lakes, the surface temp is over 64.....Go deep!
Top 3 feet of Tahoe...

Re: Truckee river

Guiding season has kicked into high gear.
Everybody suddenly needs to fish…….
This means less time to sleep, let alone posting on the blog……

We still have some water….
The flows are coming down...

Re: How to tie the Pheasant Tail

Wolfgang, I think your PT looks fine.
I once stood next to Andy Burk while he tied one without thread.....just used the wire....in under a minute......
Now that's a guide tie. 3 steps.....Try it,...

Re: how often do you keep your catch?

Joe, with the new GoPro and controller pad you can stream hero pictures while it's happening.
If this doesn't ruin fishing......nothing will.
I say, don't be a hero, just go fish......

And the...

Re: Leader choice for ultra light 2hander switch rods.

Fred, good question.....
Depends on the sz of fish, but.....
I run a pretty tight drift...very little slack. But longer leaders10'-18' dry or nymph. I've noticed, the longer the leader....the...

Re: How realistic is a career as a fly fishing guide?

All the posts contained good info.
I was once helping a friend shoot a wedding, a lady asked me if it's what I did for a living...I told her no, I was a fly fishing guide.
She said, "That's not a...

Re: Where does most of our 'sea food' really come from?

Safeway is the dark side........
More of their own house brands, ripping off the brands that established some popularity.
Made for them to sell for less.
Wouldn't be surprised if Darth Vader is on...

Re: Where does most of our 'sea food' really come from?

Fred, seems to me....

Sorry, I've committed Philosophy before my coffee was even poured..

Like bringing flies, don't always make a fisherman...

For sure, just cause you were thrown, doesn't...
