Re: New marketing ploy from Korkers

I thought it was just my bad luck. They must have got a good deal on some tubes of Elmer's glue. I've made paste in art class that bonded better than the stuff they use(d)? But seriously they...

Re: New marketing ploy from Korkers

Simms new ad slogan should have a picture of the pope say "you want me to save your soles right?" "Then don't buy Korkers, buy Simms". "Simms, our soles are forever". Classic stuff right there.

Re: Spending a week around Smith Mountain Lake, VA

There's an Orvis, Gander Mountain and a Sportsmans Warehouse in Roanoke you can get flies and some info on the area.

Re: Swinging flies (How do you weigh it down)

Right or wrong I use them all. For steelhead and Salmon fishing up in NY, I'll high stick a run and then swing the end of my drift with a small wetfly up to a large heavy stonefly nymph sometimes...

Re: Difference Hardy Bougle and Perfect?

smsnyder,

Both reels are excellent choices for Salmon and Steelhead. Bougles only go to 4", while the new Wide Spool Perfects go up to 4 1/4" diameter spools. I believe the 4" Bougle will hold...

Re: Spending a week around Smith Mountain Lake, VA

Prepare to be underwhelmed with the Smith. Yeah there's trout, but they're small, the water when not they're not discharging under high flow is super low. All other free flowing streams in VA are...

Re: Difference between hardy Angle and Light weight reels?

I have both. Both are a good reel. Lifetime warranty and good big fish stopping powerful drag on both. If you put them side by side, I'd say you pick the Angel. It's a stud. The Ultralite is...

Re: Closeout/Sales?

The unique thing about the US is that we have a holiday always just around the corner to 1) get drunk and 2) buy **** for. Stores love US consumers and there's stuff constantly on sale, discount or...

Re: Fair Price For A Hardy Perfect?

The previous poster I'm afraid has led you astray.

Factors that effect price of Hardy Perfects are size, age and condition. Post a couple pics of it and I'm sure there's someone that can give you...

Re: What Did You Buy Today?

I'll pair it up with an 11'9" Redington Prospector Switch rod. I'll have a 560 grain Airflo Skagit shooting head lined to 100' of .034" generic running line and a range of Rio sink tips from T8-T20...

Re: Backing choice

Re: Is this a good kit for a newbie ?

I did a search on these setups and I'd say it's an ok deal, but the reels get low marks and the warranty is crappy. I'm sorry to crush you, I spent some significant time up in Canada, and tried to...

Re: Reel Love; the Fly Reel Picture Thread

Hardy Angel 2 Reel (9/10). A really nice modern disc drag reel. I believe Mr Ari 't Hart had a hand in the design on this one. It is however made in Korea though. What's the world come to? 😥
