Re: A beginner with a question?

Only if you spooled it backward to begin with. When you flip the spool around the line will not come out of the spool from the point farthest from the rod like it is supposed to, it will come out...

Re: need some rod and reel opinions fellas

I'm fishing the new Sharkwave GPX on my 5wt. Awesome line! Even a hacker like me can tell the difference.

Re: need some rod and reel opinions fellas

I was using Sharkskin on a 3wt this weekend. I really liked it. Casting little dries was easy and fun. The rod was a TFO Professional. Not big money at all but fun to fish with. I don't see much...

Re: Is it still fly fishing if you do it with a spinning reel

For me, fly fishing is using a fly rod and fly line. To each his own.

Re: Orvis Stripping Finger Guards

I've never used them but have noticed that on Swamp People, some of the hunters use electrical tape on their fingers for when the line gets zipped through their hands. I'm guessing that works!;)

Re: Missouri Trout Fishing

It was my first time fishing tiny dries. I don't know how I can tie on flies much smaller. I may have to get some better magnifiers and some more nimble fingers. Actually, our flies were a little...

Re: Missouri Trout Fishing

Hey Rick! Who is that old man you were fishing with? Thanks for letting me use the 3wt. I'm still recovering from the long hikes in my not-so-conducive-for-hiking boot foot waders. Had a lot of...

Re: Duck, Duck, Goose

Canada Goose definitely has open season here. They are about to become as overpopulated as the whitetail deer around here.

Re: New Guy from South Dakota

There is some good brown trout fishing right in Rapid City. You can head up into the mountains and fish some nice places as well. I spent a little time fishing there two years ago. Beautiful...

Re: When do you move up?

Well, there are a lot more factors to rod weight than just fish size. A 4wt should handle that size fish unless there is a lot of stuff you have to seriously turn the fish away from. The size of...

BTW Chad, congratulations on improving your casting. Keep it up. I'm sure you are already better than I am!

Re: "I Give Up...(almost)" Update

Do you use a spinning reel on it? I have NEVER seen anyone (not even Lefty) make a perfect cast every time. You are either the greatest natural caster the world has ever known or the biggest bag of...

Re: Duck, Duck, Goose

Ryan,
Legally harvested game feathers are yours to do with as you please (at least in this state). Many feathers are not legal to possess even if they are shed and picked up off the ground.

Re: 5 Weight Bass Flies?

You can probably get by with a 5wt if you don't have to deal with a lot of vegetation. The bass in my home lake dive straight into the weeds. In that case a 9wt is not too much for dragging a 4...

Re: Do you remeber your first fish on a FLY...?

Good luck Mike! I do remember my first fish on a fly. I used my Grandpa's old Heddon Pal with an automatic reel on it. I had put new line on it and it was not the right line so it casted awful. I...
