Re: Steelhead Fly Swap 2015

Just wanted to thank Larry for hosting this swap. My flies came in the mail yesterday. Great job, fellas, flies look great! Now, if I could get up to MI soon to get them wet...

Re: Carrying On Flies For Saltwater Trip

I have flown with all my gear in my carry-on numerous times (flies, nippers, forceps, etc.) with no problems. I called the very first time, and they said it was fine.

Re: What have you been tying today?

Just some rubber legs. I'm headed to MT in July again this year, and the chubbies with rubber legs as a dropper were killing it last year. I've got about 200 hooks to wrap before then, so I figured...

Re: Steelhead Fly Swap 2015

If it's not too late, you can keep my 2 ties that would be coming back to me. I don't need them. I know it's not a lot, but if everyone did the same, there would be 2 sets for CFR and/or PHW.

Re: Top Water Fly Swap 2015

Here's where I'm headed for the swap, however, this particular one goes into the "junk/bluegill will tear this up" pile.

My first attempt at this pattern, and there's plenty of room to improve....

Re: Top Water Fly Swap 2015

I don't see a problem with it. I'm going to tie some up too. I wouldn't tie the same pattern as someone else, but it's completely up to you. It may be cool to see each person's take on the...

Re: Tying on a plane?

Honestly, the biggest hurdle will be the elbow room, and that was a non-factor last summer on my way out to Missoula.

I've flown numerous times with only a carry-on to my fishing destination,...

Tying on a plane?

As I sit here dreaming of my upcoming trips, I was curious if anyone has tied some last minute flies while on the plane to their destination? It may be a little cramped, but I don't see why it...

Re: Simms G3

Yes, they fit true to their size. Make sure you actually take the measurements with a tape, not just what size pants you buy.

FWIW, I'm 6'0", 225 with a stocky build. I have broad shoulders and...

Re: Top Water Fly Swap 2015

What kind of hopper are you doing? I was going to tie up some chubbies, but I'll do something different if it's too close to your pattern.

Larry:

I was going to wait to sign up, so others would have a chance, just like iatrouter. If no one else wants in, I'll gladly fill up the slot.

Thanks.

re: Top Water Fly Swap 2015

I could get behind the top water movement. I've been wanting to tie up some foam frogs, but I've been lacking the motivation. I will wait to officially sign up, since I've been a part of 2 of the...

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned is practice starting the cast with the fly in your hand, one false cast and shoot the line. Also, practice at hitting targets at different angles. This may...

Re: 45 Days in the USA and Only For Fishing

Hey now! Yes, I am a bit confused on this as well, I even live here (for now). It's probably because the non-resident fees in MI are crazy high :D (I buy one every year). Depending on how long...
