White River Guide Recommendations

Good Evening All,

I am from Wyoming, but moving to Fort Riley, KS. As far as I can tell, this puts me about 6 hours from the N Arkansas stretches of the White River. I am a big streamer junky and...

Re: DIY Fly Fishing Float Camping Trip

Start at the Routt Access and your floating possibilities are endless. You could float all the way to I-80 if you wanted to. I think Routt to Bennett Peak or Treasure Island would be an awesome float...

Mayfly looks like a Trico. On the early side, but maybe it's different in Idaho. Trico hatches sure make for some fun, technical fishing.

Re: Pat's Rubberlegs

Good pattern. I typically only throw them during the Salmon and Black Stone hatches, but great fly to have on you year round.

Re: Central Wyoming

May be a little too Eastern for you depending on where you are camping, but the Reef is the only piece of water that isn't either fishing poorly or blown out from my local-ish (2 1/2 hours) waters....

Re: Tailwater Insects: Smaller Size, Why?

I think it's a regional thing for you. I fish two well-known tail waters that support very large salmonfly, stonefly, and green drake populations. Along with this, there are midge and baetis hatches....

Re: North Platte River Spring Flush Schedule

I am fishing the Mile tomorrow, and Grey Reef Wednesday and Thursday. Those days should be awesome, the fish will be used to the flows and food aplenty. Think leeches and scuds if you will be up...

Re: May 1st - Vail, CO to Jackson, WY road trip.

Go up between the Madres and Snowies in Wyoming on HWY 230, hit the Upper Platte and the Encampment...from there, hit I-80 and drive west until you hit the Green.
