I bought a pair of Wiss scissors. They are for sewing but are really sharp and so far the best ones I have used. They go for 6$ on amazon or eBay.

Tom Rosenbauer has a book called Prospecting for trout. The book is great for learning how to read the water. I found this book very helpfull. A must read in my opinion.
