Re: 20 Flies.

one word of advice though, how you fish a fly is much more important than fly selection. My brother always copies the fly that I am using and I catch two or three times the fish he does :)

Re: When is it a good idea to overline?

How much would it affect throwing big flies into the wind? It is generally pretty windy out here on the west coast.

When is it a good idea to overline?

I've never overlined a rod but I am thinking of using an 11 wt sage equator general-purpose saltwater line on my 10 wt xi2. How would it affect my casting?

Re: Reel.. Bass, Northern Maybe even Musky Question

Of course, double tapered line is pretty old school and is rarely used. Get a line with a short head so it's easy to cast large flies, like Rio outbound or Rio pike line. Scientific anglers probably...

Re: saltwater fly rods

I don't know anything about that area, but I do know if you fish saltwater with one rod, it should definetly be a 9 ft 10 wt. It will handle 90% of saltwater fish you encounter. Anything from 1-150...

The polarchromic lenses go down to 13% light transmission(which is pretty low), how much do you think is necessary for saltwater? Which is what I live next to.

sunglass lenses

What are your guys' go-to lenses when you fish? I have nice oakley smoke grey lenses I use for sunny days, but I think I am going to get some amber ones to switch in for overcast days.

Re: I need some help with Rod selection.

It looks like you are going to want an 8 wt for the species you mentioned, one with a good fast action for casting the bass poppers, an 8 wt should be strong enough to handle the salmon. A good one...
