Re: A terrible practice day

This is the only head I have as I just started this summer. I might pick up a longer line next summer. I really enjoy how well the rage can cast both a dry fly and a wet/streamer.

Re: A terrible practice day

I may be an anomaly but I have found I cast better when I am actually fishing than "practicing". I use a slightly longer rod, 13' 8/9wt, and a Rage compact head and it feels almost dummy proof which...

Re: The Simple Things...

Great pictures. I sometimes feel ashamed to be a New Brunswicker and not like to eat fish and fiddleheads. My wife loves fiddleheads but can't eat them when I am home or I start calling my uncle...

I'm looking to add some to this thread in a couple of weeks after I get back from my 4 day brook trout fishing trip. Some have been caught in the 24-30'' range on this trip in years past. Here's to...

Re: Ever set yourself oddball artificial challenges & limitations?

In the fly fish only spots around here you get caught with anything not fly fishing for gear and you get a nice fine. I have only been fly fishing for 2 full seasons now so these games are kinda...

Re: Fishing Hat

I just got my Tilley on Sunday and love it. I happened upon an outdoor sports outfitter who had a clearance store setup in a local strip mall for 2 days (judging whether or not to put one in my town)...

Re: Long & Mid Belly Lines, Am I Alone Here?

Ard,
I am probably the newest one here to the 2hand casting style and my rage is great. I think I will try a true spey line next summer. What would you suggest for a 13' 8/9 wt? I'm used to a longer...

Reels

Hey folks,
has anyone tried using a center pin reel for their spey rods? I realize they are free spool but that is fine as the rod plays a big part in the drag anyways and I can palm the reel. Just...

Re: Experienced Advice Sought for a 7wt. Reel...

One thing is the fish you will be chasing with the 7 wt probably won't be just pulled in by hand. Salmon and pike can run and run hard. Salmon have the nasty tendency to run straight back at you. I...
