Re: Able nipper, what kind of Zinger?

I've had one of the fishpond retractors fail. The pin stayed in, but the plastic retractor broke at the end...

However, it's the best solution I know of, so I took the broken retractor back to the...

Check out the Echo Shadow II Euro nymph rod. They make a 10' 3wt. Perfect setup for what you're doing.

Re: What TROUT did i catch

I've caught lighter colored brown and brook trout like this where the streambed is silted or sandy. The fish will take on the color of their habitat.

Re: Pike in my trout stream

Thanks to all for the great discussion. Let me just clarify that I'm uncertain if pike in this stream is a problem, though I am concerned. As I said, it's not the first time I've caught pike in the...

Re: Pike in my trout stream

It's one of the best trout streams in the state with a naturally reproducing population of brown and brook trout supplemented by fingerling stockers that are then stream raised.

Pike in my trout stream

Caught this pike that was full of eggs in my favorite Iowa trout stream. It's the second pike I've caught in this stream in the last three years. Anyone else have pike problems in their trout...

First Carp on the Fly

I got my first carp on the fly yesterday. Caught him on a white cone head bugger by forum member Ghocevar that I got in a fly swap.

Re: Fly Fishing Duffel Bag

This is what I use to throw all my gear in. In my car I have a big rubbermaid tub that my waders and boots go in.

The goofy dude in the bandana is the video screen. It doesn't auto play. You have to click the play button directly below him.

Re: Which Winston?

I'd take that off your hands. The 8' 4 wt B2x with #4 Rio Gold is my favorite setup. Incredibly versatile for the spring creeks I fish.

Re: Do Fake Winstons Exist?

First of all, consider the source. Breckenridge Outfitters is a reputable business, and I don't think they would sell fake merchandise.

Re: Cabalas Rio Gold ?

Here's what happened. For Spring 13 Rio introduced a new formula for their "Gold" line. Retailers marked down the old line to make room for the new product. I'm guessing Rio probably had a big back...

Re: Sling Packs-like the idea but.....

I'm biased because I sell it, but the Clear Creek Sling Back Pack is pretty nice. It has a customizable interior that lets you use it as an open backpack, or more compartmentalized to store small...

You won't regret this decision. Rio Gold is a great line. When they discontinued their old formula I bought several different sizes.

Re: Filson shelter cloth packer hat

I'm a total Filson fan boy and have both the shelter cloth packer hat, and the foul weather strap vest. Both are great pieces. Pull the trigger.

Re: Line for Echo Shadow II

Just an update.

I chose the new RIO Euro Nymph Line. It's not weighted like a traditional fly line, but instead is rated for all 2-5 weight rods. I'm curious to try it out.

Re: Land Stewardship----Orvis
