Consider a 9 or 10 wt, especially if your fishing the upper fly area. I broke a 10 wt BVK up there on my 11th fish of the day and a 9 wt Redington on my first fish of the next day. You could get away...

Agree 100% about Surf Candy originating in NJ by an NJ tyer but even the creator Bob Popovics will tell you it's used more at Montauk then anywhere else!
