Re: Fire update

We spent the last three days driving to/from Fort Collins and Denver... smokey haze all the way to, and on down to (and including) the Denver area.

Re: Peak Vise Set Screws won't hold

What's the purpose of this brass collar? Seems like it's just there to dress things up a bit?

FWIW - I wouldn't trust a soft/slippery brass thread to bite/hold a chrome-plated steel...

Re: Peak Vise Set Screws won't hold

Did you buy this used?

I think Jeepster is on to something... That screw in the backside base should be the one that holds the vertical shaft. At least it is on mine, and other Peak's I've seen....

Re: Pebble Mine - Back in the News

Dave,

I agree. And I also find it ironic (but not uncommon) that the same EPA that were touted as heroes for fighting/stopping/slowing Pebble, are viewed as Government-controlled super-villains in...

Re: Fly shop robbed

This really is bad news for that shop. One can only hope these crooks get what's coming to them.

Lil Ol Angler Me, I think we need some clarity here... some here are/were under the impression that...

Re: Pebble Mine - Back in the News

That makes two of us. That thread ended in a semi-peaceful lockout I believe. :)

Re: Pebble Mine - Back in the News

I must say, I was a bit hesitant to post this at first... Pebble Mine & EPA corruption in the same story? Looks like folks are growing a bit weary. Word of caution though, don't let your guard down....

Re: Angler Category

Life gets in the way for most of us at some point Scoutm, but it starts to come back to you as you get older! So hang in there. :)

As far as the category goes, if you fish <10 times/year, but...

Pebble Mine - Back in the News

The article is called Northern Dynastyís Last Stand and suggests that a settlement may be in the future for a pending lawsuit against the EPA.

Through Freedom of Information Act proceedings,...

Really? He must have been one of those kids that would drink/eat anything on a dare.

That second picture down looks to me like he's in the correct position, but in my experience it usually takes a...

Re: YNP.....Safe Solo Hiking?

That is correct. This is the wording that I find odd (from YNP website):

Federal law also prohibits firearms in certain facilities in this park (such as visitor centers, government offices, etc.);...

Re: Animas river poisoned

Not to make light of the situation, but I always get a kick out of publicity stunts. Having had about a half dozen bouts with food poisoning in a few different countries over the years, I can't help...

Cool. Let us know how you make out. The guy that I was watching tie/promote them also just happened to guide on a private ranch/resort that had stream frontage and several ponds that were stocked...

Re: Tying technique assistance.

My honest take is that this is one of those situations where the need for originality got out ahead of practical application. There was some buzz locally (Utah) about the Mother Shucker (I actually...

Re: Tying technique assistance.

Flytire nailed it. This is how the Mother Shucker is tied. Not sure why because I think just clipping the hackle on the bottom achieves the same (if not better) effect without the extra thread wraps...

Very interesting perspective in that link Larry.

One of things that seems to support many of the water quality reports leading up to the event:
If you donít fish the Animas, then you may not know...

Re: Animas river poisoned

Yes, it's off topic, but that is exactly what I was alluding to in my previous post. The "P" in EPA is highly suspect.

Re: Animas river poisoned

Please do tell. I like a good conspiracy theory/story.

I've been digging, so far the only thing close to a conspiracy that I can see are the towns of Silverton and Durango co-conspiring to promote...

Re: Heber Valley Fly Fishing Festival

Weird. I frequent a number of local fly shops and fish the Heber Valley (middle Provo) all the time and never heard mention of this until now.

Not sure where Hamlet Park is either, but...

Re: A very good reason to get up early/go to bed late!

We arrived atop Guardsman Pass around 12:30a to find about a dozen cars parked there all to watch the skies. Lucked out with clear weather and a spectacular show of meteors until we left around 2:00a.
