Re: What am I missing?

If you're having fun and catching fish, you are missing nothing.

Re: What if?

The Adams and the Elk wing caddis are good arguments, but my choice would be partridge and red soft hackle. size 14.

Re: looking for a good 4wt reel for around 120

If you can find a Battenkill Bar Stock, I like mine on my 4wt.

Re: DT or WF for my 2wt

[QUOTE=silver creek;726646]

If someone has a 2 wt WFF fly line, please compare the diameter of the running line to the forward portion of the line and let us know how much of a drop off in...

Re: 2wt Reel Advice

It is not on your list, but I have the same rod and put a Redington Drift 2/3 on it. I like it. About $100.00.

Re: Fly Shop Owners?

I can think of at least 6 shops here in Michigan where I have dealt with the owners. Never a problem.

Re: Is it possible to enjoy fly fishing when you catch no fish?

Heck yeah! I've had many days like that. In a couple of weeks, I'll be fishing the Ausable below Mio. What a show that is! After the tubers are done, the fishing usually gets good, so we pick up...

Re: How long does it take from your home to the water?

1 hour to a good smallmouth river. 3 1/2 to 4 hours to my prefered trout water. Try to get up there once a month. Mileage does matter. Time off matters more. My 15 year old mini van makes it not...

Re: Ludington

I have only fished the Baldwin area a few times, but your vibram soles should be fine. Thats all I use in Michigan any more. The P.M. is a federally designated stream. There are times of the year...

Re: Teaching my FUTURE father in-law tomorrow...

I dabbled in fly fishing before my daughter brought some guy home with her and decided to marry him. He really got me into fly fishing. He was self taught and showed me the basics. We both...

Re: Colorado Springs Area

Thanks, both of you. On Angler's Covey website, I think they offered wade trips. Those might get us away from the crowds too.

Colorado Springs Area

Looks like I may be going in early July for a family thing. Looking for an outfitter. Any references or warnings? They all look good on their websites.

I've only fished Michigan and Ohio, so...

Re: Favorite thing about Fly Fishing

grtlksmarlin sums it up pretty well. I came to fly fishing during a very difficult time in my professional life. Stepping into a stream was like baptism. For a few hours, my problems washed away...

Re: Re-purposed ski pole for a wading staff

I used an old X-C pole for walking on all the ice in the driveway this winter. Use a collapsible for fishing, though.

Re: How do yall hold your tippet spools?

I had one of those clip on posts, until I lost the whole thing somewhere. Now tippet just goes in pocket or sling. I find I mostly just use 4,5, and 6X for trout. Heavier for bass and carp, of...

Re: Headlamps?

I use an Energizer from the hardware store. I do not fish a lot at night, but it has worked fine for me. I also like that it uses AAA batteries and not something else expensive and hard to find.

Line Damage Casting on Snow

I am getting itchy for some casting practice. I do a lot of lawn casting, but there is a foot of snow in the yard. I was told that casting on snow would destroy my line. Doesn't make sense to me,...
