Re: Reel Love; the Fly Reel Picture Thread

A rarely seen oldie but goodie, Shakespeare 1900 Steelhead reel. This is a Hardy Perfect knock off. Not a Hardy, but a neat little pearl of a reel.

Re: Reddington

I know it was a gift, which sucks, but for everyone else out there, you buy a rod with a 1 yr warranty, you can wipe your toushy with the warranty card.

You could try taking the rod to Gander...

Re: Nymphing.

All great stuff. I think it's kinda funny the original poster hasn't chimed in because he's probably thinking....."ok, so now how do I nymph?". My adage in life for doing anything new is K.I.S.S.,...

This site is a good start. He breaks it down to show you what a mayfly, caddis, stonefly and midge, looks like. Basic stuff.

Then you can see in depth high resolution pictures of every darn...

Re: Nymphing.

I hear your pain with nymphing. :wavetowel Dry flies are easy, it's all visual. You see your bug, a fish is either trying to eat it and splashes for it, or it isn't.

I'll try to make it...

I get what you're saying, it's not wussiness more than prudence. Every river is different. If you're walking the bank wearing a PDF, then you're an idiot. If you're wading a swift river with your...

3 1/2" Allcock's Popular. A very simple, but well made single fixed check reel. Came with a nifty old reel box, so it moves it up the cool scale.

Re: Pfd

I use this for steelhead fishing or as conditions dictate. Couple this with wading staff, and boot studs for really nasty conditions. I bring it every time. It doesn't get in the way too bad.

Tibor Spey 11-15. Yeah, yeah, it's not a click and pawl style reel, but I must say it's beautifully made. Old Ted Juracsik is making some killer reels. Again, he's mighty proud of them, hence the...

Re: I might be asking the impossible here.

Peter,

A 10' and under switch rod will be tough to find. I found a 10'6" 6 wt Beulah Classic for $165 last year. Keep in mind a 6 wt switch strength wise is like an 8 wt single handed rod. He...
