Re: what tint lenses for belize flats??

The amber lenses will be fine, the yellow might be good for overcast conditions. Do not buy the gray lenses, they aren't much use for fishing the flats.

Re: Snow Practice

the cold will make the line much stiffer than it will be if its 80. As far as casting on snow, as long as you strip in all but maybe 10 to 15 feet of line between casts, you'll be fine. By all...

going back to Islamorada

Headed down there for 3 days in early June, first time for Poons in nearly 11 years. I've been tying up a storm, and getting very excited. Anybody else going there this year?

Re: Fly line to leader connection - welded loops, nail knot, or something else?

I always use a Albright knot to connect the butt section on large fish. When I was guiding in Islamorada, I saw or heard of too many nail knots pulling off of the flyline. From there you could...

Re: Looking to move up to something new.

Brian,
As far as choosing what rod to buy there is only, to my mind, one criteria that is important. Go to your local shops and cast them, the name means nothing if the rod doesnt suit you.

Re: Bone fishing in the Florida Keys

I would recommend Capt. Kris Bacen. He is a excellent guide who is very laid back (no yelling). He has a thorough understanding of bonefishing and loves to do it. Google search his name and I can...

Re: I Want to See Someone Catch One of These On a Fly Rod

It has been done, the IGFA lists a 300+ pounder on (I believe) 16 lb tippet. It was caught back in the 70's around Flamingo. My guess is it was not a real fair fight, but I could be wrong.
