Check out the Michigan DNR web site. Go to Fishing, then choose to sign up for the weekly emails. Action on many Michigan rivers & lakes is updated by region.

Had the same problem with a TFO Pro II 7 wt. Tried many of the methods listed - no luck. Sent it back to TFO. They couldn't separate the sections either (!) so they sent a new rod - no charge.
