Assuming it's the same gurgler for all those fish, what size hook is that gurgler tied on?

Thanks.

Re: small creek with some self-ties last night

Really neat "Gartside Gurgler inspired popper thing." And I think I'll try the cat fur dubbing. We have an abundance of it around here. Thanks for the pictures.

I love the flat water here in...

Re: Brown and blue...

Yes, indeed. It's a neat little fly. I've modified it somewhat by using a rectangular cross section piece of foam I cut from flooring foam - a kind of "Flopper Popper" with a marabou tail.

Re: correct reel and rod wt for reds need help pls!

You might want to try to find a guide or two in the area you plan to fish. They could probably give you some pretty decent advice.

Tips for Lizard Flats

This is an area in Tampa Bay just north of the Gandy Blvd bridge on the St. Pete side. If anyone has any advice about fishing this large flat I would appreciate hearing it.

Thanks.

Re: A Coward Strikes

What wt bash said. I've had something like this happen before, in a place with honorable co-workers, and it turned out to be the night cleaning crew.

Re: Redemption and progress all in one hook set for a newb

I live down in Central Florida and have no clue about the kind of fishing you are doing up there. You seem to, however, and I congratulate you on your progress up the learning curve.

You also...

Re: Gar attack and monster fish

I don't know how gar handle their eggs. Perhaps the same as other fish? That being the case do you suppose there might have been bed nearby and the gar was trying to shoo you away from it?

Re: Not what I wanted, but fun nonetheless...

Another great travelogue - great pictures and beautiful fish. I see you were still using what appears to be your sandable foam poppers - these a little more popperish. I'm no botanist but your...

Re: Alabama jewels...

Excellent. Thank you, sir! If you don't mind my asking, is that 1/4" diameter or 3/8" foam, and what size hook do you like?

I appreciate it.

Re: Alabama jewels...

Great pictures and report. Thanks. Also a neat looking fly. Is that your creation? Looks like a flat piece of foam rolled up into a tube over a #4 hook. Is that about right? It's amazing that...

Re: Boy, i found a good one.......

Boy the things you come across in this forum. I would caution skinners of rabbits and other small critters to be aware of a disease called tularemia. Rubber gloves are definitely the way to go.

Re: What is this guy using?

Please forgive my ignorance here. I'm pretty new to fly fishing. Why does the guy put his reel in the water when the fish runs? Is it to control the heat in the drag?

This is really an amazing...
