Smile Re: Is fishing (and especially catch and release) ethical?

I have contemplated the same thoughts as you. I tend to believe that throughout the history of mankind, people's motivations remain constant. We also try to rationalize our behavior, and justify the...

Post Re: Trout Water Restrictions

Madjoni,

I think seasons were created to keep the fishery thriving...especially in colder climates. I've seen where people feel gulty for catching a fish out of season...I've simply tossed them...

I also understand some...

Wink Re: Trout Water Restrictions

That reminds me....I once asked 2 game wardens why certain fish are considered "game fish" while other fish are not. Both wardens replied "I don't know."

Mojo,

I am serious. Some trout waters...

Trout Water Restrictions

Why are there some restrictions on trout waters (here in NC)? There are natural bait, artificial lures, artificial flies, and limited daylight fishing hours.

Natural bait. I see nothing wrong with...

Smile Re: Hello

Hi Andrew,

Welcome to the forum and flyfishing. I hope your homemade flies work! I still use the "store bought" food to catch bass and bluegills. :D

Have fun on the water! :)

Smile Re: Fly Gear and Conventional Gear

Joni,

As long as I believe flyfishing to be another form of angling, I will never consider myself to be an elitist. It is only when I flyfish, and believe that flyfishing is the most refined...

Smile Re: Fly Gear and Conventional Gear

CP,

I tend to believe every style of fishing has it's challenges. To me, catfishing is a greater challenge than flyfishing.

Yes ma'am. If one truly believes their chosen method of angling is above all others, it's possible.

Smile Advocacy for Lighter Gear

Yes, we live in an age of aluminum reels and graphite rods. I believe we can produce lighter gear...except we are happy with what's available.

Ozark,

If you want a good fight, I suggest foregoing the creek and seeking larger prey...6"+ bluegills and the like.

Smile Re: bass rod

Hi Grass,

As far as "bass" rods, I can make a few suggestions that fall below the $100 mark.

Bass Pro Shops has a series of 7'10" called "Heat"...in 8wt-10wt. $100

Cabela's has the Three...
