Re: Are you a Maximizer or a Satisficer?

Thought provoking thread Silver. I would have to say throughout school and then my business career and personal life I have always been somewhere in the middle. When I had my business, I always...

Re: What further advances in rod design are possible?

I don't think anyone could disagree that the casting skills of the large majority of fly fishers falls well short of the level necessary to take full advantage of their equipment. That was the...

Re: What further advances in rod design are possible?

I hope no one that has read what I posted in this thread thinks I feel innovation in new rod development shouldn't continue. Without it the rod companies might as well close up shop. My point was...

Re: What further advances in rod design are possible?

Re: What further advances in rod design are possible?

Re: FS - Phillipson D80DFS 8' 5wt Glass Rod

Thanks for the review Ard! It really is a high quality vintage glass rod. The only reason I'm selling it is I'm trying to reduce my # of fly rods and reels now that I'm in my mid 60's and I have a...

Re: FS - Abel Big Game 0 Reel

Thanks guys. They don't make these anymore and you won't find one nicer. Perfect for that special 3wt or 4wt rod. I think you'll love the reel.

Re: Bauer Rogue Reels - Opinions/Reviews

I have several Bauer reels both MSL and LM. They all have been flawless. I have no idea why they get such little respect but you can often get some unbelievable deals on lightly used ones...

Re: Winston pre IM6 9' 3wt not sure what I have

I agree that the finish on these vintage Winston rods is beautiful. Although I know tight line nymphing with long light weight rods is very popular, I very rarely nymph fish with my 3 weights. ...

Re: Vintage heavier-duty reel?

Re: Reel for Sage 7wt (without totally breaking the bank)

I don't think you can go wrong with any Galvan reel. I have the OB-2, OB-3, Torque 4 and Torque 5. All are extremely well made and have been flawless.

Re: Scott s4s7or 8 wt for general bonefishing in the Bahamas

Interested in hearing the comparison as well. I have a S4 5wt I really like but I haven't tried one in a heavier line weight. I still use my S3s 9wt for S. Andros as it seems the wind always is...
