Re: Nautilus,Galvan or lamson trout reel?

Assuming this is going on that 10' 4w you just bought , if so error to the heavy side. You're gonna want that tip up for intended rod usage

I paired my 10' 4wt with the Allen Kraken reel for three...

Re: Hardy Zenith 6 wt>?

Cant speak to the 6wt but my 5wt with Rio Gold certainly doesn't feel like a broomstick. To me it is a nice medium fast flex, bends fairly deep for a fast rod and conversely responds when you poor...

Re: Nymphing fly rods?

If you could provide a bit more detail we can help narrow it down. My nymphing rod is different for the N Platte, S Platte and Big Thompson due to size of water and payload aka the flies and wind...

Re: Need midge hook style recommendations?

I switch in those sizes for a real lame reason and one relevant one

1) Front Range Anglers doesn't usually have Dai Riki in anything smaller than 22's
2) I use the 24/26 up on the north platte...

Re: What have you been tying today?

Saw some rainbow krystal flash the other day at Front Range Anglers and got a wild idea. So I ordered rainbow tungsten beads to fit a size 14 hook and cross bred a Franks Flashy with a rainbow...

Re: Need midge hook style recommendations?

Forgot to elaborate though

305 is a dry fly hook so RS2, Disco Midge
125 is a emerger hook so most my midges here

When I get to 24/26/28 I tie on Tiemco 100 Dry Fly Hooks and its only RS2, and...

Re: Need midge hook style recommendations?

I tie most of my midges on Dai Riki 305, 125 or 135 depending on the pattern

You find the odd bad hook but @ $6 for 50 it's hard to complain.

Re: Sage Circa or Sage TXL-F?

Keep the TXL-f it compliments the Circa so well. I love my 389-4 Circa, first fish I caught on it was a 8" Brookie in the current. I thought I had a monster on the line

Re: Small mountain stream/spring creek rod question

So I will sort of play devils advocate here. If a stream is so bushy and choked with trees and what not in your back cast when was the last time you said boy if only this rod was 6" shorter I could...

Re: another question on Furled leaders. need some help

My Cutthroat dry fly leaders get used on all my 3wts ranging from 7'10" to 8'9" and I use the 50" and it works great. I bought it before I had the 8'9" 3wt but it works well on it too. That 50" reads...

Re: What have you been tying today?

Well visually the EHC is coming around, now if I could tie them that actually float upright. They either tip to the side or float face down, hook bend out of the water like a sinking ship going...
