Re: is Simms insane?

I don't think they're insane. I will say this, though. I've been wearing Simms waders for almost 10 years now. I also have the G4 jacket. Both outstanding. I so have other Simms gear. But, they are...

Re: C&P Reel on Konnetic

Easy. A Sage 509 made by Hardy in England. The gold matches the wraps nicely and the click and pawl system is robust. Solid springs with big dogs and teeth on the spool. I personally find it a much...

Re: NRX Satisfaction

10' 9 weight. Outstanding single hand salmon and steelhead rod. Simply outstanding. I just wish I could fish it more. One of the smoothest casting rods I've ever owned.

Re: 6 wt. for lake erie steelhead

A good solid 6 weight will work with a good quality reel and decent tippet size - I would use 3x as the smallest. 4x if you will have plenty of room to run after the fish will also work but there is...

Re: Why buy high end?

Because I want to. Same reason I drive a 400 hp BMW.

Re: Abel Sealed Drag still waiting

I don't blame you. I'd be unhappy too. That's a long delay.

Re: South Platte Closed

I heard 4 people died in water related accidents this weekend. One was a tuber on the South Platte, one was in the Arkansas, I don't know about the other two. One guy died in his waders on Boulder...

Re: South Platte Closed

The Western Slope definitely had less snowpack. What we've had is a well above average rainfall in May. It rained every day in May with the exception of 3 days (I think it was 3). All day rains...

Re: South Platte Closed

Good luck man. Hope you find what you're looking for this weekend. It's blowing and going everywhere and these hot temps will only increase the flows. I would concentrate your efforts on staying...

Re: Addiction to fly rods? How many.

19 rods. Now reels... that's where I have a "reel" problem - 26 plus a bunch of spare spools...

Re: Abel Sealed Drag

Outstanding. I can't tell you how much I want one of these and will own one. I sure as heck don't need one since I just went nuts and bought a few more Super N series reels and another classic...

Re: Loomis NRX Trout

I have only a 9 weight NRX but it is one of the best casting fly rods I've ever held. Wouldn't mind adding another I just don't really "need"one in any line weight.

Re: Abel reel choice

Im not surprised that the 6N felt light on that stick. I use a solid back 6N on my 690-4 Sage ONE. Ideal.

Re: Rod selection for fishing Colorado

I've landed many fish on 6x here with a 5 weight. You need the light tippet often. A good reel makes a big difference. Small streams, I'd use a shorter rod. The F&F fits the bill. You'll be fine.

Re: High-End Rod Appeal

Just a comment on this aspect. Speaking from personal experience, my loyalty to my local shop and being one of their customers is valuable to me. When I purchase a new rod I always buy from my shop...
