Re: April 2015 Caption Competition - Sponsored by Allen Fly Fishing

Give Carl a fish, and he eats for a day. Teach Carl to fish, and we spend 2 melodramatic hours, letting him enjoy the fight.

Re: Felt sole or Rubber with Studs?

So I split the difference and bought the Korker Buckskins, and I bought the extra studded Vibram soles.

We'll see how these go.

Re: Felt sole or Rubber with Studs?

Awesome, and this may be a dumb question, but do you walk in the studs or place them when you get to the river. Again, I have never owned a pair in the 15 years I have owned wading boots.

Felt sole or Rubber with Studs?

DIDYMO has never been a problem in NC and I usually do not fish anywhere where it has been considered a problem, so I nor anyone I fish with, have any experience with anything but felt. However, it...

Simms Classic Guide Jacket

Anybody own one? How do you like it?

Yesterday, Sierra Trading Post had 40% off of their already low prices, on everything. I got the jacket for $130 with a $10 voucher I had, when it's still...

Re: Broken rod tip question

Ha! To be honest, It was a cold morning, spitting snow, I had some ice build up that I needed to get out of the guide, I reach up to to push it through and it just broke in my hand. Biggest fluke of...

Broken rod tip question

I have an older Scott Rod that I broke the very tip off yesterday, right at the last guide. It's an 8'6 3wt and I took it to local fly shop to see if they could handle the warranty for me. One of the...

Re: the F word

I think it's all part of the culture change in fly fishing. The competitive 'bro' culture with flat rimmed ball caps, skateboard style t-shirts, and just an overall aggressive approach to the sport....

Good purchase or not?

I broke down and finally bought one of the Redington CT rods in a 8'6 3wt they have for half off on Cabelas. I have a 3wt Scott V2 6'6 that I love but on some rivers I don't like how short it is. It...

How do you fish midges?

My entire life I have always fished a midge ridge by tying to the hook eye and the bend in the hook. The other day I used the dropper loop concept, and I hated it. That thing kept in a tangled mess. ...

Re: Catch and release argument

I agree, to each his own. I did get out of hunting for a year or 2 about 10 years ago but I found myself very worried about what I actually buy from the grocery stores these days. There is no...

Re: Catch and release argument

Saying you won't keep a fish based upon ones belief in not killing is completely different than not doing so from a conservation standpoint. If that is your stance, then say so. That is a completely...

Sounds like it. Never had to deal with that nor have I been around it. Kind of glad in sorts.

Re: Catch and release argument

I believe in Murphy's Law in that 'if it can happen, it will happen'. In other words, if you don't keep said fish, somebody or something else will. So don't believe for one second that if you don't...

Re: Steal of a deal

I talked him down $10 prior to me knowing his reason. When he gave me the flies on his own accord and then told me his story, I slid him the $10. It still wasn't enough but it was all I brought.

Re: Steal of a deal
