Re: #7 line on #8 rod

TD - While you already have an adequate response here, I REALLY recommend a heavier line on that rod. There are some rods that do ok with lighter lines, the Motive is not one of them. I'd recommend a...

Re: Tibor Signature?

They changed the "Hubs" which essentially means it got an entirely new drag. They were plastic, and are now metal, not sure what was changed on the inside.

We haven't re-tested it fully, but based...

I'd check out our 8-weight Shootout (http://www.tridentflyfishing.com/blog/2013-8-weight-wt-challenge-fly-reel-review)

The Signature has been upgraded since we last reviewed it, so I would say...

Re: Line for a 3Wt.

Bob,

If you're going for spring creek type use, I'd go with Trout LT WF. Works great on that rod. If you're doing more small stream work, Gold could work better.

Re: Sage 4210 for salt?

The 4210 will work well. It's sealed, etc.

Check out our 8-weight shootout (http://www.tridentflyfishing.com/blog/2013-8-weight-wt-challenge-fly-reel-review) for more info!

Re: scott 10' 4wt or 5wt

Given your description, I wouldn't recommend a 10' rod at all. a 10' rod will be tailored to bigger water and nymphing, not throwing small dries. I'd be looking at an 8'6" 4wt

Re: New fly rods?

Major brands do almost every release in July at iCast. I'd expect Sage to not have a major update this year... maybe the TXL? Winston has a much longer development cycle, so I wouldn't expect a Boron...

Re: NRX & S4s Comparison

clogrennane - both great rods, and you can't really go wrong either way. If I were going for a dedicated Bonefish rod, I'd probably go S4s as it feels a little lighter and does 30-60' really, really,...

Re: 2 Rods, 4 Fish, & 1 Reel

If anything, the NV 9/10 would be too light for the switch.

for the 7 plus, you can fit a lot of backing on a LA... I personally fish mine with PowerPro for extra capacity. I'm not sure if you...

Re: 2 Rods, 4 Fish, & 1 Reel

Mike - here's my opinion:

One Spool - NVG 9/10: It'll fit everything well. 8/9 will be tight with a Skagit setup.

Two Spools Hatch 7+: Use a LA for the salt and a MA for the switch. Overall...

Re: Hatch 7 plus balance on NRX 9ft 8 wt

Mike - you're absolutely right. The NVG 8 is a full ounce lighter than the Hatch. The NRX is a rather heavy rod, I'd personally go with the slightly heavier reel on this one.

Berks - I fish the...

Re: 9' 4wt suggestions?

Assuming you're keeping your 9' 5, I'd actually recommend getting an 8'6" 4-wt instead of a 9. Generally speaking, these rods are pretty different from the 9' 4's and are much lighter in feel.

I...

If you have a Predator and don't like it, I don't think you'll like the Motive. My 2 cents.

Re: Sage Circa for rod #2?

The Circa (http://www.tridentflyfishing.com/sage-circa-fly-rod.html) is a great rod for dry fly fishing. Generally, I'd say it's a little more powerful than your average dry fly rod, so if you're...
