I fished a small canal right next to Smith's that sounds like...

Re: Sinking line ?

Know the limits however. There is a young man on another forum that breaks rods constantly. With many of these Asian made rods coming with lifetime warranty, I am sure this happens a lot.
He will...

Re: Slip Strike Indicator and use

Start using these indicators starting in around 2006 or maybe earlier.

Some do have a taper in the styro, but never an issue. I prefer the peg to the fly line as they act like a pop top. The...

Re: Sinking line ?

" Don't worry about tapered leaders on sinking line. Just attach 4 to 6 feet of straight fishing line (mono or Fluorocarbon) in a 6 or 8 lb. Leader material sinks at a different rate than the line...

One slight flaw. The writer wrote 7'9" 5. It is a 6/7.

Re: Is it still fly fishing if you do it with a spinning reel

I was not jumping you, just answering my feelings. All is good. I am not a purist, but I prefer to fly fish only, and all that entails. It is what it is. You wanna fish a fly with a spinning...

Re: Is it still fly fishing if you do it with a spinning reel

Nice that you filled us in with the fact you fish any way, but in all due respect, the post asked a legitimate question. No snobbery there at all. The only ones calling fly fishers snobs are the...

Re: Carp Plan of Attack

The Carp I have caught are 26" to 36" so I use a 6wt or 8wt. I was using a 6 wt most the summer but one hook set it exploded the top two sections. I am pretty much worried free with my 8.

Re: Sinking Lines use weighted flies or not?

Boobie Flies are awesome on sinking lines. Floating "UP" on the pause is sometimes the better ticket.

Re: Sinking Lines use weighted flies or not?

I tie very few of my flies with weight other than Beads (not Tungsten), but I have every sinking line from Intermediate to Type VII.
However, I do weight some like Denny Rickards versions and...

Re: A beginner with a question?
