Re: Favorite nymphs

I have had great success with the pink squirrel nymph. I don't use chenille for the hot spot but rather use hot pink dubbing. I vary the body color but my best success has been with an olive...

Re: Do it right now.

Golfers have done this sort of thing with their clubs for years. The labels can be purchased quite inexpensively and could be applied to all sorts of FF gear: boxes, rods, rod cases etc. They...

Re: Expensive reel for a 3 wt rod?

Great advice. Find something that balances with the rod based on your feel and casting stroke.

Re: Lanyards

I made my own foam tubing. Picked up a pack of craft foam sheets at Walmart. Rolled a sheet around a piece of thin dowel and then glued it. Put a full rolled sheet at the back so the lanyard sits...

Re: A couple pros agree

Last spring I happened to be pulling up to a group of trout ponds just as the stocking truck was leaving. Wasn't sure what to expect as I had never encountered that situation before. Got rigged up...

Re: Heading to Seattle/Vancouver, any tips?

If you are hitting Vancouver Island, check out Robinsons in Victoria. Amazing selection of tying material and very helpful staff. There is also quite an active forum devoted to fly fishing in BC...

Re: Good day today...new toys and gear

I would really like to get a good sling pack but the problem is I just can't bring myself to not haul all sorts of flyboxes (5 or 6) and other assorted junk with me. I haven't quite reached the...

Re: Suggestions for waders while using knee brace

I was thinking the same thing about the neoprene brace, over the articulated if necessary. Walmart actually has a neoprene brace that has straps with velcro so it doesn't even need to be slid...

I'm sorry my good man, but one cannot enter into a reasoned discussion of writing instruments without acknowledging the incontrovertible merits of hand milked ink of the juvenile Caribbean Reef...

Re: Cold weather pants for big guys-recommendations

Layering is the way to go. A good pair of long underwear, followed by fleece (sweatpants?) and nylon windpants. If you can find them, you can get nylon windpants that are fleece lined. That is...
