It took some effort, but... The U DD is a stacked rulon disk drag. The new CA and MA DD reels have a stacked carbon fiber disk drag that gives up to 7 lbs. of stopping pressure in the larger sizes....

I can't speak for the specific rod you received. I will say that I think 2011 was th last time StCroix updated that rod. You can easily pick up the phone and call StCroix to ask the question...

Interesting - Just double checked... Mine is 1.75 rotations lock to lock. There's a variation between samples. I have no clue if this means anything or not. :confused:

Um... no, it doesn't. Your DD drag knob should have about 1.75 full revolutions where the CA DD has about .75 as I recall. There has been a redesign. Whether it improved things over the negative...
