Re: What the heck is it?

Ice fishing is like many other outdoor sports in that you have to be equipped to a certain level so as to be able to enjoy it while being able to ignore the extremes.
The few times I went, my host...

Re: Fixing Rods

I have a 3 wt I bought at a flea market that exploded as I was casting it. A guy driving by offered me a loaner just based on my honest face and the county designator on my license plate. I was...

Re: Light weight floattube for backpacking

Re: New (to me) dropper attachment method

I tie everything barbless. I mash the barbs at the vise. Never could tie a knot that would stay put on a barbless hook. Hate the tangles. Gave up on tandem flies years ago for that reason.

Re: Zap a Gap help ? Smoke?

I use Krazy glue brush on: It's a bit thicker than the other styles but will still wick into thread. I find it doesn't dry out in the bottle as much as other types and I seldom have it glue the...

Re: Yelled at a moose last night...

I've seen a few moose here and a few bears. Happily, we saw them first. I mostly sweat a surprise meeting with a skunk or a badger or snake. If you get stomped by a moose or bit by a bear or breached...

Re: Organizing materials

I buy smaller pieces of critter and save larger chunks of stuff I harvest myself-deer, elk, duck, goose, pheasant out in my garage. For the stuff at the desk, I use photo protector pages in hanging...

Re: Help my yarns a slipping.

I use Lil' Corkies in several sizes. Every couple of years, I buy another handful, cut a slot to the hole with a hobby saw and paint the bottoms gray/black: too often have fish hit the indicator...

Re: Waaaaay off topic

My wife and I got 2 cats, brothers, when we were first married. Cosby was with us for 10 or 12 years-went out one day as usual and didn't come back. His brother, Culp, (they were black and white...

Re: Streamside disposal of mono/floro?

I used to put my snips of tippet in the same vest pocket as I put my stripped cigarette buts. Now I just drop them inside my waders, then dump out the waders in the back of my pickup.

Re: Bucktail as moose mane sub

You can substitute anything you want- that's what makes tying fun. So, sure sub buck tail for moose- I think the moose is coarser and more dense, so the buck might not sink as well.

Re: Absorbine Jr. On fly line?

I had a squeeze bottle of GI bug stuff leak in my briefcase once. It melted my AM/FM radio. It took a week of exposure to the air before the plastic hardened.
