Re: Old/New Fly Ride

It's nice that the registration wasn't such a bear. I have an acquaintance that has been in the process of getting registration for a home built trailer for a while now. So far, I think he is at...

Re: Found another rod I didn't even knew I had.

Fred,

Is there any way you can test true grain window of the blank... maybe set up a simple common cents grid? Take it down to Meiser and have him check the grain window?

Re: Recommend Spey DVDs and books

Though, I agree that a 13' (7wt) spey rod would be the best way to start casting, I don't think I would analogize the difference quite so disparagingly. I have taught a number of people to spey cast...

Online magazines are great! No paper, no trash and no decisions on what to keep or throw away 6 months from now. Just a hyperlink to revisit anytime!

Re: My fishing buddy is a snake!

That was one of the best videos I've seen in a long time! I would have liked to see the snake finish the job, Swiss Family Robinson style ;)

I'm pretty sure those leaves are blackberries, not...

Re: Old/New Fly Ride

That looks like you did a pretty nice job on the renovation. How do you and your wife handle the excess line on longer casts? Do you wear a stripping apron? I find that every time I fish out of a...

Re: T-8 to T-14 and single-handed rods

T-20? That's incredibly heavy! I couldn't imagine trying to cast that with a single handed rod. Is that for getting down into salmon holes or really fast, high water? What situations do you find...

Re: It's fishin time again...

Wow! Sounds like the only way to make things better would be to get some solid hookups on the end of your line... maybe you'll be as lucky in fishing as you are in love?!?

Makes an angler feel...

Re: Have you ever forgot...

Forgot my wading boots once. Got all the way to the river and started gearing up before I realized it. Most depressing feeling I'd known in a long time :(

Re: how often do you keep your catch?

Every hatchery steelhead I catch, comes home with me. Sometimes I give it to friends or family (as my wife also can't stand fish) but they always leave the river in my possession. On occasion, I...

Re: This video ZOOMs me !

I would love to have a brown on that jumped like that. All the browns I've ever caught have run like the dickens, but never once breached. I don't think they want to look me in the eyes... or I'm...

Re: what rods do our youth use

My daughter uses my Moriston Convert switch rod as a spey rod (with the Tyne Trinity reel) to hunt for steelhead. She hasn't landed one yet but she is on her way!

Re: Fall Rogue River OR, Trip Advice

I'm looking forward to the muddler soon enough! Cut the head rough and random and it will wake all season like a jet sled. There's something gratifying about catching steelies on some of the more...

Re: An Evening with the Drakes (pic heavy)

Wow! I'm jealous. That water looks so peaceful it makes me want to just sit by it and watch the fish rise to the hatch.

Re: Fall Rogue River OR, Trip Advice

Also, if I could add my 2 cents, September is a great month to skate/wake on the swing. The Summer steelies are aggressive and the takes can be amazingly powerful!

It's good that you will have a...
