Assuming wind on the water fish won't recognize a 7,8,9,10 plop on the water. A 10 will cast small but a 7 won't cast large. Just vary the break tippet. Look for good used or demos to save...

The saltwater Trio...8,10,12...start with 8 or 10 wt look used Sage Xi2, Loomis CC GLX...my best bargain pick would be a 2 piece Sage RPLX factory rod in 8 or 10 because it's two piece it will...

The fish won't know whether you are throwing 8,9, or 10 on a typical day mostly 10 kts plus of wind...therefore if you want to be a sporting gentleman you can leader your 10 wt with 5 kg...

I'd try 2/0 'bout 3" color tan mainly hint yellow...tan hint chartruse...key IMHO is working slow to medium with a breaking wrist short strip...stop and drift...let the marabou work...loop knot...let...

Try a gurgler type with some of the flotation cut away so that it suspends about 3-4 in. below surface...rabbit and maribou...work it slow...and let the tide/current work the marabou

I use 65 lb power pro on my 3N with 9 wt RIO Tropical clouser on a home built TCR blank...put more and thinner backing so that you will have the effect of a larger spool diameter when the line is out...
