Re: Winter Fly Fishing MA

I'm with ya, this is the winter I crack down and teach myself how to tie. Been putting it off too long. I've not done much winter fishing so it'll be good to find something to fill the hole!

Re: West Branch Ausable

Said it before and I'll say it again, I'm a big proponent of the Two Fly Shop. I'd contact them for a guide and let them know what you're looking to do.

Re: Striper fishing 101

They ran pretty good near Plymouth this weekend. Caught a bunch of schoolies but we were in a boat a bit off shore. Not too far. Birds were going nuts all day.

Gurglers seemed to work well when...

Re: Squannacook

Both the Squannacook and the Nissitissit skunk me save for maybe sunfish. I must go at bad times or just not know the spots... every time I go it seems very shallow without many pockets and I don't...

Re: Southern Maine?

I'll actually be able to make it up before Oct 1! I would be going on the 29th and 30th, if I go. I'll be in the Wilmington NY area later in the week after that cutoff.

However, I also did not...

Southern Maine?

I'm going to be going to the Ausable late next week, but I have time to squeeze something else in as well for a couple of nights earlier on. Can anyone recommend a spot to get out in Southern Maine?...

Re: West Canada Creek

Does this area get swamped similar to Pulaski?

I'm debating where I want to go for an early October trip and it's either between AuSable, which I know and enjoy very much, or somewhere I've not...

Re: Suggestions for the adirondaks

Highly, highly recommend the Two Fly Shop. They know what they're doing and a lot of Fran Betters disciples hang out there. They keep the faith alive.

Re: Suggestions near Jewett NY?

I actually had ample time to sneak away that day, so I was there for an hour around 4:00 - not many risers, but a few (it was quite overcast) and then went back from around 6:30-8:00. It was getting...

Re: Suggestions near Jewett NY?

Went up to I guess Prattsville and walked in to where the junction was, saw tons of risers, got a couple hits but must have tied a bad knot because the only one I really hooked took my sulfur emerger...

Re: Suggestions near Jewett NY?

Awesome - saw the Schoharie on a map and that's where I was thinking of trying today if I hadn't heard anything here. Nice overcast day for it!

Suggestions near Jewett NY?

Forgot to post this earlier this week... shot up here for a wedding and figured I'd try to nose around for some fishing too. I imagine there's something but haven't had much of a chance to look at...

Re: Striper setups?

Thanks! Great recommendations.

My el cheapo was some $90 8wt TFO and a $50 Cortland reel that had no business being capable of having the drag it did, I just impulse bought it at a sports store...

Striper setups?

I had an el cheapo setup last year that I managed to lose after a pretty great fight with a salmon. Was hoping to replace it relatively soon with something decent, but nothing too fancy. What sort...

Re: Dsr ?

I wouldn't pay for a season pass.

There's a limit to the number of people they allow in, but it's still a good deal.

I've only been once and what I saw going on around Pulaski, even though I...

Re: Black River Ludlow, VT

Nice fish!

That's a pretty big picture and took a long time to download though, can you make it smaller?

Re: NFL Trout

That fish looks like it's been gorging on the elusive bacon fly. I'm envisioning it tearing around Wal*Mart in a Rascal.

Re: Does a bear really go in the woods? Eastern Mass.

Hey I'm just glad to see a beauty of a fish like that come out of that river. Good one!

Though my luck has been bad there, it is a beautiful place and I'll certainly be back.

Re: Does a bear really go in the woods? Eastern Mass.

What blows my mind even more is that you pulled fish out of the Nis?!

I've only been twice, I went last weekend and tromped up and down and all around. I admit I saw one or two risers during a...

I know there's a meetup.com Boston fishing group, but as of yet I've not made it to meet them, either.

I might be interested in some urban fishing.

Re: Lake Placid / Saranac Lake area

These three flies slayed this weekend. Lots of big browns.

Regarding the ponds, not sure, but if you look at a map and find a pond, I'd probably suggest giving it a go. I caught a brookie in a...
