Re: Sage ACCEL

Excellent point and honestly I don't have a dog in this fight so really just making conversation not a purchasing decision.

It would be interesting to do a side by side Accel , Nexus, Scott A4...

Re: Sage ACCEL

To clarify and not intended at directly at you but I 100% agree with you buy on performance vs price alone, it is a function of both in all reality. My point being more along the line if you are car...

Re: Sage ACCEL

I've said it before and I'll repeat it, the price point Sage chose puts me out of the market. If I am going to spend $650 or so on a rod why am I not going to look at the $800 offerings as well.

Re: Favorite Midge Stik

Agree here totally, I actually have a private love affair with my 10' 4wt Allen Icon. I can cast double bh nymphs with a yarn indicator easily, but also no sweat with a stand alone mysis shrimp...

Not this time of year, only in July and above N Michigan. There are some beaver ponds that hold some nice fish.

Re: Northgate Canyon

I did and flows were high and volatile so the water was off color. Few fish were caught but the ones that were , were sizable.

I was thinking of going soon too but saw flows spiked to 500 a few...

Re: Rmnp

I find I get in to a lot of cuts, on the Fern Lake Trail, (Big Thompson) probably a mile up from the trailhead they become more prevalent. You could hike to the pool and work down but I find one you...

Re: 6 Weight; ONE or METHOD

Thank you , I had read your essay on the Method but still felt sort of in the dark since this is a whole new thought process for me. I am certainly not a technical caster in any way shape or form,...

Since I have cast streamers and by that I mean size 6 or 8 wooly buggers a handful of times. Ive never chucked a chicken or as Hank Patterson would say a Kerry Gallup triple articulated dungeon wagon...

Well tonight I'm a night owl, I just flew back from Nor Cal to Denver after a quick business trip. My buddy texted to see if I could leave to go fishing at 4am. Not going to happen this weekend

I don't fish it, but I bet you will love it. That is a great price on that reel.

Re: Montana Fly Company Hooks (Anyone use them)

I bought 200 MFC dry fly hooks once, I believe I threw away 197. The first few bent in the vise way to easy so I just chucked them

I use Dai Riki primarily and you can stock up at Blue Quill...

Re: Allen Volant - RED

Yeah for me it is primarily a high stick nymphing type of rod. so the faster ICON works out. If you've ever cast a Sage TXL that is what I compare it to, just 10' not 7'10".

I liked the...

Re: Allen Volant - RED

Order the ICON in the 10' 4wt, trust me it is worth it:thmbup:

Its my go to over Sage ONE, Circa, Zaxis in 9' 3wt or 4wt configs. I had ordered the Xa2 but it right as it was being phased out so...

Re: Ross Evo or Nautilus FWX?

Both reels will outlast me , I have the FWX 3/4 on a Sage one and it is good.

Honestly if I had to buy one I would buy the FWX over the Evo. That doesn't take anything away from the Ross. If on a...

Re: Best of the mod. to mod/fast past & present ?

I wish I had some of the slower vintage rods the other guys have, would be fun to go fish them. My slowest rod is a 389-4 Circa and it is fun to fish. I also have a TXL-f 1wt in the 7'10". I don't...

Re: Reel decision for Sage VXP 9' 5wt

Welcome to the forum

I think the Walleye, Pike and Bass have the ability to test the drag of a reel more so than a typical trout. That being said any of the major manufacturers...

Might have to give those a shot this winter.

Currently I have the fingertip less Simms gloves, while they keep my hands warm my fingertips get a little chilly.

To boot, I get so many size 22...
