Re: North American fishing club product tester?

I belonged for a year several years ago. All I'll say is that when you are done with them, it takes some time and effort to convince them of that fact. I personally would never consider joining...

Re: How did you choose your screen name?

I had one of those experiences, too. Now I'm pretty careful online...a good rule of thumb is, never put anything online that you wouldn't want to see on a billboard.

Re: How did you choose your screen name?

Well, three things went into my carefully crafted screen name...I'm from Pennsylvania, my name is Dave, and I'm fairly unimaginative...thus, PA Dave. I use it on every web forum to keep life simple.

Re: NFFR: Aurora Borealis Tonight In Lower 48!

I'm pleasantly surprised to find that my part of PA is supposed to be good viewing...except Accuweather calls for cloudy conditions through the entire time frame. :(

Re: House Buying in the USA

Absolutely correct. Once they are aware of the problems, they are legally required to include the information in the Seller's Disclosure, which means, either they fix them for you, or they fix them...

Re: opening day strategy

Opening day was great this year. I slept in and then took the motorcycle for a 100 mile cruise through Amish country. In another week or two I'll hit the streams, after the circus goes back to...

Re: Worth while to salvage on old, decent blank as a first project?

It can definitely be worth the time and effort. While waiting for back-ordered components one winter, I took an old fiberglass rod, stripped it down to the bare blank (even removed the ugly paint),...

Re: Come To Think Of It, I Could Use A New Sofa...........

Red Green is more than a celebrity...he is the guru of duct tape.

Re: Whatcha readin'?

I recently started 'Moby Dick' by Melville. It's kind of about fishing.

Re: Gotta love my 82 year old father!

Having come from a non-fishing family, I will tell you to take advantage of every opportunity. My late Dad was never a fisherman or outdoorsman, and I came to both later in life, but I wish I could...

Re: List flyfishing accomplishments big and small

Caught fish on a fly I tied, with a leader I furled, on a rod that I built.

Learned to double-haul.

I know that's not that much, but it makes me happy.

Re: What would you do?

Question: "How's the fishing?"

Answer: "It sure beats yard work!"

And it does, no matter how good or bad the fishing is. I wouldn't lie to the guy, but I don't always share the whole truth,...

Re: opening day strategy

It's always a circus in PA...I stay home.

But if you have to go and can't make a trip away from the crowded streams, there are ways. Take a roll of yellow caution tape and a can of white spray...

Re: Fishing Hat

I changed to a light colored boonie style hat for fishing and kayaking...looks goofy on me, but it does the job. It doesn't really concern me if I'm not a fashionable angler.

Re: Worst Fishing Car Ever

My worst fishing car had to be a '93 Dodge Caravan. Sure, I could carry more gear than I would be able to use in a lifetime, but the thing was a true POS, couldn't get me back into the good places,...

It appeared to be a little slow on Sunday, but it was fun. The guy I was with is a fine...

Re: One Last Question, and I Promise I'll Quit...

Jerry, I'm happy to challenge the very subject of this thread, "One last question, and I promise I'll quit..." I get the sense that you will never quit.

I watched my sister fight...

Re: Abel nippers: Are they worth it?

Respectfully, I never said I didn't love that BMW...I did. But dollar for dollar, it was not the better buy. Just because a product, be it a nippers or a car, is a top end, high performance...

Re: Abel nippers: Are they worth it?

To be fair, I have owned a BMW and I have owned a VW. I will guaran-dang-tee that the VW was the better buy, dollar for dollar by a huge margin. Just as with nippers, there's nothing wrong with...

Re: Flies in the surf

So far the 8wt has done the job and has brought in stripers up to nearly 30". If I was outfitting again, I'd consider a 9wt or 10wt. A nice thing about the 8wt is I can cast it for a long time...
