Re: Need Neoprene Flats Bootie to go over waders. Suggestions?

Try googling water shoes. Readily available, rubber soles, inexpensive and very stretchy to fit over neo. I've seen them up to size 14.

Re: Cutty Country Sticker

I'd leave it as Cutty Country, but have cutthroatleaders.com in a smaller, bolder font along the southern border of the state.

I would also include the eye and possibly the gill plate as well.

Re: A quick moan from England.

How is it then, that one shop can ship a spool of line for $17.95, while another charges $34.25 to ship that same spool of line (both by USPS International Priority) from the same state? I do enough...

Re: A quick moan from England.

yup, we get the same treatment from many shops for shipping to Canada. Seems like they're trying to squeeze a few extra $$ out of their potential international customers.

Re: This will keep me fishing for awhile...

Using that criteria, you could turn this into a contest to photograph every species in your state, could you not? But if you're being completely honest, I suspect there's a certain bloodlust...

Re: Free Hooks! - Allen Hooks

I've gotta quit working so I don't keep missing out on these deals.

Thanks anyway to Justin and the crew at Allen for their generosity to, and support of, the ff community.

Re: I think know what my next truck is gonna be

Except that - on the automotive side - there are loads of aftermarket parts available. No need to run back to the manufacturer/dealer for repairs after the warranty period (or even on-warranty for...

Re: Getting Ready to Order, Lots of Questions

You also didn't list a winding check. That's one item I always buy multiple sizes of, since it's a bit of a guessing game on what size the blank is at the top of the grip. Fortunately, they're...

Re: Okama SLV Reels

And it's still going strong! Landed many 30+" cats, carp and pike with it and no issues. Great value imo.

Re: Kudos to Ross Worldwide

I'm more inclined to call these warranties 'insurance policies' since you typically have to pay a 'deductible' when you send a rod in for repairs. I recently had to replace a section of a Sage rod...

Re: Orvis Recon line suggestions

thanks, guys. I'm kind of partial to Rio lines. I think I may start out with a Gold in 3 wt as an all-around line.

Everything I've read about these rods suggest they load up very well with very...

Orvis Recon line suggestions

I'm soon to take possession of a 3 wt. Recon and am looking for input on line recommendations. The rod will be used for a variety of situations, from dry fly streams to Stillwater nymph and streamer...

Re: Giving credit where due - Simms

Regular first class would likely be about $20 and take anywhere from 7-14 days. The added cost was shipping priority which took only 4 days, including a day the package was held up clearing Customs....

Giving credit where due - Simms

I sent my G3 guide pants in to Simms 3 weeks ago for some alteration work. This was not a warranty issue, but simply having larger neoprene feet put on. The quoted cost for this service was $65. More...

Re: Helping a spin casters go legit on C&R waters

That depends on how the regs are written. I've fished in multiple jurisdictions where it only matters what's tied on your line, not what's in your possession.

Re: Epoxy/nail polish scent

If it were true trout are put off taking a fly because of the dot of cement or epoxy on it, hardware fishermen would never catch one.

Re: TFO BVK 6wt fly line suggestions

If you can still find an SA Headstart, snap it up. It's half-weight heavy and has a short front taper, almost identical to SA's Bass taper. The BVK should work well with that.

Re: Synthetic Materials VS Buck Tail for Clousers

It's not a synthetic, but I sometimes tie my Clousers with Polar Bear fur instead of bucktail. Adds a nice shimmer to the fly, although I have no proof it outfishes the bucktail version.

Re: TFO BVK 6wt fly line suggestions

I've got BVKs in 7 and 8 wt and use RIO Outbound on both. That combo works well for me for throwing the heavy stuff or punching into a wind.
