I truly believe the first tying lesson for any beginner should be to learn thread control before even tying flies. beginners need to learn how much tension to apply to tying thread to achieve good...

of course goose biots will work! what makes you think they wont?

tying things on like tails and wings will provide a natural taper (from the butt ends of the wing material) so i dont see the need...

I tried the tungsten "thread" and to me it was like winding on spring wire.

didn't think much of it and threw it out.
