Re: Best Reel under $100

Pflueger Trion can be had for under $100 as well. These seem to hold up decent & have good drags. I have several friends who fish them in the salt.

Whatever you get, give it a good coat of car...

Re: Woolly Buggers and Bass

I always said that if I had to feed myself with one fly, it would be a black #10 WB. While WBs arn't necessarily considered " the go to" fly when targetting BIG bass, they are very productive on...

Re: 4 wt or 5 wt for Northeast Panfish??

The 5 wt is the better choice if your limited to one rod. It will work from bluegill to bass to trout to (very) light SW. It will throw warmwater flies with more authority too. I would also stick...

Re: gills on a 3wt

The only thing better than Gills on a three weight is gills on a 2 wt :-)
There is something very gratifying in a few hours of tossing foam spiders on a feathery rod that is hard to match IMHO....

Re: Favorite "loop" knot?

x2. Best knot I've found for ALL my warm and salt water fishing. It really allows the fly or popper to move freely and has never slipped on me! Much easier to tie with ageing eyes and /or with cold...

Re: travel rod bass

Ok so my last bike went away about 4 years ago but this thread still got me to "needing" another travel rod. Have they really gotten that much better? Stumbled onto a 60% off deal on a leftover...

Re: Best 8 wt for $300?

Why would you choose a rod based on price??
Convinced they are better casters based on name alone?
Go out and try some $100-$200 rods before you spend any $. THEN try a more expensive rod and see...

Re: travel rod bass

I have a 7pc 8wt from Cortland that's "OK" but mostly I find anything over 5 pc "Clubby". Wondering what brand your 4 wt is as I'm in the market for a 5 or 6 wt 7pc?

I've had an outback and my friend has a Forester. Subaru makes a Nice vehicle but you have to follow the maint schedule or big issues can result with the drive train. Upside is 25 mpg and that great...

Re: Turning Over Popper Issues

6' of straight 10# mono should do it fine. I like Berkley Big game as it has just the right stiffness. A loop knot will help with wind resistance/turnover as well.

You also don't mention the style...
