Re: What do you do with all the flies?

When I started tying the rejects went in the box. Now, I cull my fly boxes every year. The ones that are worn or no longer up to standards go into the box. The box has become a conversation piece....

Re: kayak, float tube or pontoon

I like v shaped float tubes for stillwater fishing. I have a small one that I propel with fins and a larger one that has oars as well. I can get my feet out of cold water when I use the oars and...

Re: What do you consider a "caught" fish?

It doesn't matter to me. If one came unhooked at my feet I'd simply say I lost one at my feet. Getting it that far was accomplishment enough. Why be hung up about whether it was landed or not. ...

Re: Best Waders: Simms Vs. Orvis

I have Patagonia Rio Gallegos waders. They are great waders. However, as all waders eventually do, a bootie sprung a leak this week. I washed them and took them into a local Patagonia Store today....

Re: How to attach backing to fly line: Best knot??

I've never had a nail knot fail on trout and steelhead lines. Salt water applications may be a different story. I like the Tie-fast knot tool for fly line to backing knots and a brass tube for...

Re: BDU Trousers under waders?

The reason to avoid cotton is that it absorbs moisture. It is important to a material that will wick away moisture. Wear your system and see how it works. It looks like the waders are not...

Re: Storing waders and boots

Simms makes some good points. Under wader wear is really important and I agree that jeans are a terrible thing to wear. I like a wool blend or polypro long johns and a high quality merino wool...
