Re: TFO Pro Soecial

Wow, seems like a great deal! Is this the older version of the Pro II? If so any idea what the difference is other than the color of the blank?

Re: looking for a new 5 wt. rod.

Every rod you've mentioned is a great rod, but as everyone has already stated you need to cast them to find out your preference. As you've already seen by casting the Sage ONE and realizing it isn't...

Re: Need recommendation for a New York salmon rod?

Ok, to answer your question yes your 9' 8wt is fine for salmon. When I first started fly fishing a 10'8wt was the first rod I bought to use for both salmon and steelhead. I landed Kings in the...

Re: Orvis Clearwater II

Nice setup he should really enjoy it! The Clearwater reel probably would have been fine for a 5wt trout aplication, but you did the right move upgrading to the Access. For steelhead it just simply...

Re: Reel for my Radian 5wt?

I agree w/ S&S, black is def the route with that reel! Black and/or orange look great on the rod. Originally the Super 5 was bronze and my Super 4N is Wild Trout and both because of the "orangeish"...

Re: Orvis Clearwater II

I agree with this 100%. I fish a 10'8wt Clearwater II for steelhead and think it is a great rod. An absolute steal for $200. With that being said anyone looking to purchase the outfit...don't! ...

Re: Reel for my Radian 5wt?

I have a 9'5wt Radian and I run an Abel Super 4N on it. Originally I had the older model Super 5 and it was way too heavy. I went to trade it in thinking the Super 5N would be the way to go. Once...

Re: Orvis Encounter

Thanks for all the advise guys! I really like the idea of getting her to try it out before investing. I'd prefer to get her "better" equipment, but only if it's something she's going to enjoy. ...

Re: Wind punching Rod/line combos! (8-9wt)

Seems like people are really liking the Sage Salt as well. Sage Method may also be a contender. Also, in the more mid priced range I'd check out Sage Motive & Scott Tidal.

Re: Nautilus NV 8/9 spools

The short answer is yes you can buy spools for this reel. Now, on to the long answer...

The old NV 8/9 when fitted with the G spool was the NV 8/9 G-7. Both the 8/9 and what we will call the G-7...
