Re: My fishing companion's lunch

Bull snake, not poisonous but do have a nasty attitude. Great snake to have around because they love to eat rats and mice.

Re: A Fun (and Harrowing) Day On The Water

Great story and rep points given. The great thing about fly fishing is everyone here has been where you are now. I still have a day like that once in a while and chalk it up to reminiscing....

Re: The death of newspapers?

Many of the small town rags are still a great read like the Ravalli and Seeley Swan Pathfinder (mails the newspaper to me) as their audience is limited and they have to keep if honest to stay alive....

Re: Little Red, Heber Springs, AR

Glad you had a good time and enjoyed the fishing, also thankful I don't fish there. Advertising your fishing holes only increases the fishing pressure even to already well known spots. shhhh :D

Re: The Phantom Punch and An Early TKO...

I am thankful Doc was there to help and the diagnosis that you will be fine. Unexpected blows are dangerous and probably a miracle you weren't knocked out.

I will pray for a speedy recovery.

Re: Follow the rules, I got my first ticket. :(

One trick I have learned is many podunk towns (typically the ones with definite speed traps) are only interested in the money and rarely file the paper work for a warrant if you don't pay the fine....

Re: "Going to the Sun Highway"

How would the trip be safer when riding in one of the red buses driven by part time help working for a concessionaire? I visited with one of the rangers a couple of years ago, said what few incidents...

Re: Gas prices almost back to before.

Sometimes out of state hunting and license fees are high so we add a little to offset our costs there and often times its as simple as having a bad experience with the local law enforcement.

I was on the GTS two years ago on July 4th and it wasn't that crowded except as mentioned at Logans Pass. My first trip there was in Sept 1982 to backpack from East to West Glacier and after two days...

Re: California Drought affects USA food production

I think it is simple supply and demand, if California can no longer supply that which is demanded, other states and regions will pick up the slack when the demand (prices) is high enough. Don't enjoy...

Re: Cigars and Fly Fishing

I have never had a bad tasting Cuban from a reputable company, think the problem may be you are buying knockoffs, those things are everywhere. I have been given a few from well meaning friends and I...

That's just wrong, it would be like a guy posting on a dating site he enjoys walking on the beach holding hands, window shopping and crafts.

Re: New to Fly Fishing; What Would You Do If You Had A Do Over?

My recommendation follows a slightly different path, find a nice mid-range 9' 5wt and buy it used on ebay. You will be out about half the money and if you take care of it, the combo can be sold again...
