... and I, a 2007 Subaru wagon with 217k on it. Replaced original clutch at 200k. While dog is gone, rods live on and they fit in wagon a charm.

Hook keepers do not bother me in the least. Some times I use them, some times not.

And, please speak with the reel manufacturers - get them to radius/round off the reel foot stem so when wrapping the leader there are no sharp corners for the leader to rub on !!

Have you held a Burkheimer (http://cfbflyrods.com/rods/classic/classic-trout-rods/), one of their single hand trout rods? The cork profile feels wonderful.

Unfortunately (for me) they do...

With a WF, if it's tight in filling the reel, simply cut off the back 10 ft or so of fly line. You'll never need it.

And besides when you're showing off your casting skills to the neighbor kids,...
