For color I usually err on the side of success and buy them bleached and dyed

I don't think fish KNOW what a "hook" is let alone what color it is in the water? Most lures (and colored) hooks are for sportsman to buy not to statify fish!

secret swaps are a good sign of snobbery towards all swappers as they would indicate the swapmeister would only invite certain people to participate in his swap. not a good way to run fly swaps. :(

That seems to be a problem every fly tying forum that has fly swaps experiences but they don't shut down because of a minor glitch. Swappers pick up the pieces and move on with the next swap. I've...

fly tyers tie flies all year round.

fly swaps may slow down but they don't go extinct like the dinosaurs

I've never really heard of forums suspending swaps for any reason

tiemco is an excellent choice for hooks but with the quality of today's hooks from the mom & pop distributors, i feel there's no need to tie a new tyer down to specific hook manufacturers. thats why...
