also a good recommendation I have this in 3/4 weight and it's great I just wasn't sue if there were any still around and discounted. I got it for about $40 last year on Sierra.

Thanks. Actually since that post it remained in the glass of water in my bathroom floating nicely for about 10 days - then Monday morning much to my chagrin it was on the bottom of my water...

That could be a valid point I'm going to consider. As I sit here typing I'm visualizing pulling line down off the reel as I'm in the middle of it and I don't know if my line is actually rubbing...

That sounds like an honest novice approach. Once you become an expert the general rule is "take your best honest guestimate......then add 5 inches for when you tell the story to others".

Normally the figure 8 I see most people refer to is the technique where you simply "figure eight" the line into the palm of your hand using your index finger and thumb to retrieve the line and stack...
