I used a 8WF-F on my 9'6" 8# it was all over the place. Put a 7WF-F it behaved perfectally. 444 Cortland

Strippen basket makes some differance. Made one for bushy ponds, works great. Maybe of subject but anyhow.

Ge I thought St Croix Was Very famous in Fly rods. I have had just about everything they made at one time or another. I now own the Legend Elite in FW968-4 No trouble to cast the full line. Nice rod.

I the years I spent fly fishing I learned 2 things. No 1 stiffer lines cast farther and easyer than soft lines. No 2 under linr your rod by 1# and usally you will get more distance and better...

Tried it yesterday and today, Roll cast and shoot line like a dream. Back casts good to , no trouble to feel rod load. And good feel not like the Legend Ultra I had. This ones a keeper.

Emailed Scott and they said it sounds like the glue caps fell out over the years. Send it in and for $45 shipping cost , they will install new caps. I saw a rod building site and they used cork plugs...

I have a Scott SAS 14ft 9WT 3piece Spey Rod and the male end of the first and second section are not pluged. Is this the way it is suppose to be? or should they be pluged? Thanks.

Tip angle

Rod Tip angle is very important, I have had to very carefully bend mine down, It was to flat causing friction on casting and retreving. (VERY CAREFULLY) Makes a differance.
