Re: 2016 Pflueger® Medalist Fly Reel

2 years ago I got a free Akron made 1495 that was thrown in with one of the vintage rods that I collect.
The problem was that 2 screws were missing and damned if I was going to drop 10 bucks plus...

Re: Good kitchen knife sharping kit?

I have one of these Lanskey systems that I got as a gift. I didn't even try it for a long time.
As a professional chef I was used to using the traditional 3 stone carborundum so this "system"...

Re: Do we need expensive rod to fly fish with?

One of my favorite guitarists, Big Al Anderson of NRBQ would play a Squire strat or a knock-off Les Paul purposely.
It was his signature sound :D

Re: Fly of the Month - February 2016

The river down the street is caddis specific.

There are some mayflies. Olives and green drakes mostly, but the trout there will ignore a mayfly everytime in favor of a caddis.
Over a couple of...

Of course they don't make them anymore , but there's plenty...

Re: Do we need expensive rod to fly fish with?

Mr S&S, I think that you don't understand that some of us don't give a **** about any of that.

It's not the money.

It's just that expensive fly rods are just not that important to the big...

Re: Do we need expensive rod to fly fish with?

I learned to fly fish with a pair of truly bad fly rods and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Fortunately, there's nothing on the market now that can compare. It's night and day.
Still, I have the...

No,
What you propose is killing, not hunting
Hunting would be to choose a prey and go out to harvest it.
What you're proposing is to kill one of everything that you legally can.

Native...
