I have never used CDC....ever. It intimidates me to no end. It's like some type of other-worldly, ethereal, and spooky boogie man substance. I've seen flies tied with it but...

I have heard the Redington Predator at a #6 is a decent smallie rod. I know I guide here in KY that uses one for his adventures.

I'll second Elkhorn Creek.

also Silver Creek runs through Richmond and there are some wade-able spots. Call The Lexington Angler 859-389-6552. They can put you on some decent fish.

When spin fishing on bank or boat when a cooler is available: summer suasage/cheese/water/whole grain fig bars.

I've done something similar using a ziplock and canned air, and it mixed things rather well. my only complaint was that due to the darker underfur (the fluffy stuff beneath the guard hair)...

Audax, do you tend to leave the longer guard hairs whole or do you use scissored to mince it up a bit.
