coolhand, I appreciate the candor and it is a help. I have actually made one purchase for a shorter lightweight glass rod and intend on commissioning another.

The reviews of these aren't all that great on the Cabela's site but the prices sure are. Want to get the 7' 2wt TQR but reviews saying that these aren't good at short casting has me shaking my head....

I'd fish a purple rod as long as it was on the darker side. Around Baltimore it might be a hot seller. I don't see too much difference in terms of outlandishness between some of the fiberglass...

I paired mine with the Grey's G Series reel - at $55 you can't go wrong. Has served me well this season but can't comment on real longevity.
