Re: Help ID large yellow Mayfly

Eh, I don't think so... This guy was pretty massive. Definitely the biggest mayfly I have ever seen in person. Also the wings were the same color as the rest of the bug, not transparent like the one...

Help ID large yellow Mayfly

Last night, my wife and I went Kayaking on Lake Natomas here in Folsom, CA. At around sunset I started spotting these large yellow mayfly duns on the water. Not a huge hatch, but one every 20 yards...

Re: WTT: 7wt TFO Mangrove for 6wt Mangrove

I'm not sure I understand your post... You want to BUY this rod for your son? I am not looking to sell it but to trade, as stated in the OP.

WTT: 7wt TFO Mangrove for 6wt Mangrove

I recently purchased a 9' 7wt TFO Mangrove to use as both my surf rod and streamer rod. It worked great for the surf (the 3 times I fished it) but Just yesterday I went out on my first streamer...

Re: Eastern Sierra Fun

Nice work man! I love that area you fished higher up! The rooster lake has a great population of sizeable brookies in the inlet stream. Not sure if you went up that high but it's definitely doable in...

Re: Rio Steelhead line- The RIO 'spey chucker.'

Well I'm just waiting on some more money so I can pull the trigger on the Kraken! Word on the street is that Allen will be offering a few extra colors for a limited time on the reel so I'm also...

Re: Rio Steelhead line

Well it sounds like it'll do great for what I'm wanting it to do. I'm not too worried about dry fly fishing with it since I've got other rods for that. The only thing I'm bummed about is the line I...

Re: Rio Steelhead line

I'm not sure exactly how far I would WANT or NEED to cast... But I guess I'm just getting caught up in the ABILITY to be able to send a rig out at a pretty good distance.

Re: Rio Steelhead line

That's precisely why I am torn between the 2 lines. It seems like with the OBS you have a better advantage for shooting line and turning over heavy rigs but suffer line control at distance. Where as...

Re: Rio Steelhead line

Well, I found a lightly used 6wt Steelhead line that I'll be buying off a member from another forum. $35 aint a bad deal!!! It's a single color line though, unfortunately so it'll be hard to find...

Re: Rio Steelhead line

Well this is my dedicated streamer rod so I'm not too worried about the ability to throw dries with the same rod/line,I've got another setup for that. This is purely based on the ability to fish...

Re: Rio Steelhead line

You have many good points in the last post! The only thing I'm concerned about though is that you're mentioning the performance of this line on a longer rod. I am using a 9' fast action 7wt, so I'm...

Re: Idaho Small Streams Part 3 More Cutts

Great report! This was such a fun stream to fish. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of it. Every time I reminisce of the journey last year, this spot is a strong competitor with my favorite...

Re: Rio Steelhead line

Thanks for the input! I do attempt single hand spey casts but the line I have right now just isn't built for it and I can definitely see how having a line that will work with spey casts would...

Rio Steelhead line

I'm looking for a line to use on my TFO 7wt Mangrove. The purpose of the setup will be for large trout and steelhead and I plan to chuck streamers with "ardheads". The 2 lines I'm looking at right...

What lines are on the reels and how old are they? Any interest in separating the 2 reels, maybe buy one?

Re: Small mountain stream/spring creek rod question

I have 2 small stream rods that I use depending on the water I'm fishing. One is a 7'6" TFO Finnesse 2wt that is perfect for most smaller streams where I can cast like normal with very few issues. My...
