Re: Hey you Fish/Trip Photo Dudes......

Agree. My Nikon has two SD slots and I've set it so that every time I punch the shutter it records the image twice; on one card as a RAW and on the other as a decent quality JPG. That way I can...

Re: Hey you Fish/Trip Photo Dudes......

So noted. Will try to put camera/settings info in future pics - at least those in threads that are photography specific.

Cheers!

Re: Hey you Fish/Trip Photo Dudes......

Exactly! Which is why the relatively fast 2.0 lens on the TGs is such an advantage. You can get some seriously good results from a decent P&S if you work at it. For example, I posted this the other...

Re: Hey you Fish/Trip Photo Dudes......

Larry makes an excellent point. Unless you're shooting a really good DSLR, when you start cropping that tight your going to get those kinds of results.

Re: Hey you Fish/Trip Photo Dudes......

On the water, an Olympus TG-1, a simply fantastic point-and-shoot. A surprisingly good (and 2.0 fast) lens for a P&S. Instant on, waterproof, and a host of other great features.

And my "Nikon...

Re: Show us Your Photography

Happy New Year! Seems like forever since I've dropped in here, but it looks like I'm not the only one who's been AWOL. Glad that stl_geoff and rocketbomb have blown off the dust and perhaps I'll help...

Re: Show us Your Photography

A fabulous shot, Rocket. And those windshield marks are easily fixed with a spot edit.

Nicely done.

Re: Culebra

That's the place, Eric!

It's encouraging to hear that with a little mono and a hook you were able to catch fish. Perhaps, with all my hi-tech gear, I have a prayer. :-)

To illustrate... Mike's...

Culebra

Headed for Culebra in late February with the wife and some friends. Not a fishing trip, explicitly, but it would be a downright sin to be in the Caribbean and not chase a few tails. Anyone have any...

Re: Finally...Real Waders!

I love my G3s and wouldn't trade them for anything, but when it gets hot and you still need to wear waders (i.e. on southern tailwaters) try the new Redington SonicDrys. Amazingly light and...

Re: Airlines and fly rods

First of all, yes, all commercial air travel sucks. Delta hasn't cornered the market on said suckiness, but they may lead the pack. Glad that I'm not alone in this opinion. I'm rapidly coming to the...

Re: Airlines and fly rods

I just flew to and from Missoula. Carried on my rods and reels and few miscellanea with an Orvis Safe Passage Carry-it-all (http://www.orvis.com/p/safe-passage-carry-it-all-rod-and-gear-case/2y2p)...

Re: Scott s4s7or 8 wt for general bonefishing in the Bahamas

If you already have a 9, then I would think that the 8 would be somewhat redundant. I'd lean towards the 7 to give you a little wider range. But then you probably are already thinking like that, thus...

Re: Scott s4s7or 8 wt for general bonefishing in the Bahamas

I was very happy with my S4s 8wt when fishing Long Island last year. If your question is Which do I get?, I'd suggest that the 8wt would handle the wind better.

Re: St. Croix Imperial vs. Avid

It occurs to me that I should mention how I came to acquire my Imperial. I went to the shop with $700 dollars in my hot little hand, completely ready to bring home a 5wt G2. Jim nodded his head, but...

Re: St. Croix Imperial vs. Avid

My gut feel is that the Avid would more closely replicate the G2 action (not sure which Winston you have), though I have not had my hands on that particular St. Croix. I do have a 5wt 8'6" Imperial...

Re: Best nippers?

Picked up a pair of the Simms yesterday and am impressed.

A factor worth mentioning is whether or not you will be using your nippers in the salt. A lot of the cheaper options suggested here will...

Re: new to fly fishing need advice on a setup

Having just spent a few days fishing out of SPI on the Laguna Madre, I can say with complete confidence that there are no redfish in southeast Texas. There is, however, lots and lots (and lots) of...

Re: What length bass leader

I use 7-9ft of straight 15lb floro for most of my bass fishing. Start about 9ft and let it shorten with fly changes. When it gets to be about 7ft, re-add a couple feet or start over if the leader is...

Re: Redington Sonicdry Waders, Your Opinion?

I'm a big Redington fan. As has been said, I think they put out a quality product at a reasonable price point.

I don't own any of their waders, however, only because I can't seem to kill my G3s.
